The Irony of Heavy Water
In 1940, Frederick and Irene Jolio Curie planned to set up a heavy water laboratory in their death row cell. The lab would lead to the creation of an instrument of death with its maternity ward. A Scottish coal steamer called the broompark was tasked with transporting top secret materials across a body of water filled with German U-boats. Mad Jack Howard's crew refused to hang over until they recovered the broom park from the Nazis.
