The Version of APL That STSC Built Was Written in C
STSC had a version of their own language on the PC and then they built a version for Unix. We were trying to decide whether we should go the root of emulation or whether we should do some other approach that would be more native. So we opted instead to adopt STSC system but we had to make it be sharp APL like. The changes were definitely not superficial or cosmetic. They were deeply rooted in the implementation and it took a long time to get them right.
