The Importance of Exodus

The author of Exodus is unmistakably framing this scroll as a sequel, picking up exactly where Genesis is left off. The biblical drama does not begin with a messed up world in need of fixing or oppressed people in need of deliverer. It begins with paradise, not brokenness, with peace, not oppression, all of it in a place called Egypt. But then like an uninterrupted or an unwelcome intruder, verse 8 barges in.
