How Does the Law Interrupt With Slavery?
Law was deeply, deeply imbricated in colonial america. It's hard to peel off from other categories of things like politics or religion. Law is created by people, but it also shapes behavior. Legal language and procedures really shaped how colonists viewed their world. And we can get into this as i argue about calling slaves chattel property. I think it continued to influence overtime how Americanans even thought about African descent.
