The Relationship Between South Korea and Japan

John Defterios: I think people would be surprised to hear actually how stuck in history or how rooted in history the relations between South Korea and Japan are. He says there is a huge amount of sort of tension there, isn't there historical tension which sort of underlies this. And it's interesting to see the interplay of those. For Japanese military planners and security planners, Korea was always referred to as the dagger that struck at the heart of Japan. It was seen as a promontory geographically that could threaten Japan.
