Is There a Finality of Death in Animals?

I don't think they're kind of consciously thinking, I don't want to die. Although we can see animals mourn and mourning is a suggestion of a recognition that there's no longer life. So do they conceive a notion of death? I mean, I guess we don't know. But if they can mourn, it must mean they have an understanding that life is finite.
