What Does the Fossil Order Mean?
In 95% of cases, there was no statistically significant correlation between the predicted order of branching in the lutionary trees and the actual fossil order. So that suggests that, whatever that fossil order is, evolution might not be the best explanation. But another explanation for that is that you're actually seeing an ecological sequence, not an evolutionary sequence. And this explains a whole load of other stuff as well.
