How Much Sleep Do You Need?
The benefits of sleep appear to peak between seven and nine hours per night. If you want to prioritize brain health, a study of 500,000 people suggests seven hours is what you need. When you drop below six hours per night, that's when your brain and body give you the middle finger. Your body can handle the occasional night of poor sleep, just ask parents of newborns. But when in doubt, try to get at least six hours every night and ideally a few more.
