Is There a Difference Between Theory and Praxis?
Jonas says that when I am presented with a visual field, again, let's use the example of the park. The world is largely passive relative to me as far as vision is concerned. According to Jonas, the concept of force is not a visual concept. It's actually something that comes from touch. So the notion of something exerting a force on me is literally something affecting my body through an impact. If I'm confronted with a relatively static visual field and that's the totality of my experience, I would never have an understanding of either force or activity.
