In the 1500s, it would have been more common to hear someone refer to a meagram than a migraine. They may have substituted the word grim at the end because a severe headache was a grim condition. English had the native word gram, which meant angry or fierce. And since migraines produced fierce pain, that word might have also influenced the change.
