Walker Was Not Ideologically Committed to Slavery
William Walker was not ideologically committed to slavery, at least in his writing in prior work. He justified his invasion of Mexico on humanitarian grounds citing the raids by indigenous people and the unfair taxes taken by Mexico without actually ever talking to those people or furnishing any evidence that he wanted them to free him or him to free them.
