Greece has some of the best beaches I've seen in Europe. The food change is quite a bit as well down by the oceanfront and the water, there's a lot more seafood present. There are also wineries along the hilltops where it's cooler and there's more rain as well. Crete was controlled by the Turks for some time,. which they consider it to be invasion by the Turks.
