Is There a Market Force That Will Lead to Fossil Fuels Staying in the Ground?
Fossil fuel companies are under tremendous pressure from investors to get out of fossil fuels and into other forms of energy production. I don't think it's right to say that market forces on their own will lead to the fossil fuels staying in the ground just by, just by renewables naturally coming cheap enough. Without something beyond market forces to constrain the way that fossil fuel comes out of the ground, we are going to be in deep, deep trouble over climate.
