The Diamond Knot
Detective Shelby and Detective Carol Daly were appointed to the case. The rapist had used two shoelaces tied together on her wrists. Experts found they were a specific type of knot called a diamond knot. It was well known as an oracle knot but also used when working with horses, or in the 70s,. while creating macrame items in home decorating. Police established that several local homes had been robbed in the lead up to this attack. costume jewelry found in the victim's house had been stolen from another house nearby. A bloodhound picked up the rapist's scent outside the child's window. Upon picking up the scent, the dog shook, slobbered and behaved erratically
