Steve Hsu Q&A: Complex trait prediction in Genomics, and Genomic Prediction / Embryo Selection

CHAPTER

Is There a Correlation Between Cognitive Ability and Health Risks?

The company genomic prediction does not provide ic related or cognitive ability related scores in its embryo report. We focus entirely on improving health risks. If you were to, say, select ten embryos to day for an ic score, how much e gain would you expect to see? I think the current best predictors have a correlation of about point four between the predicted cognitive ability and the actual measured cognitve ability. And with say, a million genotypes, i would predict you could get somewhere up to some correlation like point six or point seven,. So significantly stronger, and maybe with a standard error as small as tenice points.
