The War on Drugs Is Already in Place, Right?

The first US drug prohibition was the 1875 Opium Exclusion Act in San Francisco. It explicitly only criminalized the smoking of opium by Chinese people. The Americans don't really care about drugs, they just want access to the Chinese market. So now every signatory to these conventions has to pass its own domestic legislation. And that's where the Brits end up banning the smoky of opium. Now that's a really fucking interesting choice that they make. They don't pick the cocaine or anything that's in Coca-Cola. They pick smoking opium. Why? It's not remotely a problem. It's barely used. But here we see that second element of the globalization of drugs
