A fast growing company is one that experiences a growth rate greater than 25% per year. For slow growers, you'll want to ensure that there is steady earnings growth on the horizon. Don't try to time cyclicals unless you have an investor's edge of some sort. Look for companies that may have depressed earnings due to a market change but also have low debt and good cash flow to weather the storm.
