The Importance of Drinking the Bitter Cup
In verse 28 of John 19, he says, I thirst. The night before when he was in the garden of Gethsemane and he prayed that the cup might be taken from him. So what was on his lips when he died? Vinegar, which is very bitter. And to me, that is beautiful symbolism that Jesus died having finished the cup.
