How to Race a Five K

The five k has the reputation of being a lung searing, quad burning race where you start out fast and then speed up towards the end. As with all endurance races, running negative splits, or finishing faster than you started, is the recommended strategy for most five k courses. But even before we get into five k racing strategy, be sure you spend some time warming up right before the race. You don't want to leave your speed in the warm up so you're tired at the starting line.
