Risk Enhancing Factors in the 2018 Guidelines

In the 2018 guidelines, there are some women-specific risk enhancing factors that were not discussed in previous guidelines. These include things like having a family history, a premature cardiovascular disease and primary hyperclalistirlemia with an LDL of 160 to 189. If you have persistently elevated triglycerides above 175 non-fasting on at least three occasions, that's a risk enhancer. APO-B is very useful for measuring lipoprotein little A; we won't know who has elevated until we measure it.
