How to Deal With Hyperbole
Step one is to notice when you are engaging in black and white thinking, or talking and living in hyperbole. Look for language you are using, always, never, or when you use adjectives to describe things that already make discomfort known. Just say I had a bad day. That's enough. People will understand what that means. Step two: Challenge your thoughts. Is your partner the worst person in the whole world, or are you just upset right now at their behavior in this moment? Then replace the thought and apologize.
