Introduction

After weeks of hearings and hours of witness testimony, an inquiry has found Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's government made the right decision invoking the Emergencies Act during last winter's convoy protests. What began as a massive protest evolved into something entirely unprecedented. When the decision was made to invoke the act on February 14, 2022, Cabinet had reasonable grounds to believe there existed a national emergency. It is now absolutely illegal to participate in an unapproved political protest in Canada.
