The Importance of Direct Moral Experience in Philosophy
I've always been interested in philosophy, never studied it formally. And I was struck by the comment that was in the margin of one of your papers that you submitted to your professor for maybe your thesis. He had very good comments, then he had this little cautionary suggestion in the margin. Yes, that my views had not been tested in the crucible of direct moral experience. But now as with many things when you're 25 years old, approximately 20 years later, you look back and think they really had my number.
