The Importance of Talking About Barriers
Research has also found that autistic women may have higher rates of eating disorders and other self-injorous behaviors than autistic men. That again may be based on a lot of things we talked about, just the pure expectations and stigma related to women, as opposed to men. There's lots of factors. Sensory processing, social pressures. Coping mechanisms for stress and anxiety. Other things. So I hope the conversation is helpful and I hope it gets more people talking about it and thinking about it. As a late diagnosed autistic guy, I know how important a diagnosis can be.
