Can Gatekeeping Be Harmful?
I do think that there can be Harm when words that were created within somewhere like academia to mean a very specific thing are then taken and expanded and diluted. I honestly personally see something really dark going on with the duping culture on TikTok which has just been called anti gatekeeping to justify its existence. We're in this period of late capitalism where every single thing is so accessible Thanks to the free market and labor outsourcing that nothing really has value anymore. It's not about status value or rich people like own their Birkins and to just like indicate that they're rich but more so objects that are important to certain communities.
