Is AFib Appendage Closure Percutaneously a Good Intervention?

A new paper is out with sobering findings regarding patient selection and outcomes. In this observational study in Israel, ischemic stroke occurred in 13% of patients and hemorrhagic stroke in 4.4%. Now for hemorrhagic stroke rates in Protect were 0.20%, but not reported in Prog 17. This may be more of a good intervention for helping patients be comfortable with their anticoagulation, but it isn't clear how it actually influenced the decision.
