87% of US music industry revenue in 2017 came from non-physical formats. A few artists have started making two different versions of their tracks, a more dynamic one that they send to streaming platforms and a more compressed one that gets put on CD and iTunes. Some people are optimizing music for streaming services. As an artist, is it really fair to give paying fans a worse sounding version of your new album? It's a disservice to the music you worked so hard to make.
