The Importance of Incongruity in Humor

The incongruity not be the sort that provokes what we might call a genuine problem solving attitude. There are lots of incongruities that take the form of puzzles and that motivate us to solve the puzzle. Of course there's something very strange about these interpretations we use to solve the puzzles and jokes. That is there is absurd as the punch line themselves. It's absurd to think that somebody could be on a crowded highway and not know he was driving in the wrong direction.
