I don't know if I would believe that she's necessarily in love with Eric because he's like just straight up the first human she's ever seen. If the first humans she'd ever seen was a beautiful woman, she might have found love with her too. Like it's not like sex, it's about attraction, it's more about like, I have to hide this part of myself because it is not accepted in society.
