The History of the French Revolution

After the French Revolution, 1789, they sent out investigators to explore these different regions. They asked which language do people speak in your part of France. And that's how they discovered most of the people couldn't read decrees. In World War I, soldiers were shot by their own side because they spoke a non-French language.
