Are There Grounds for Optimism?
I'm concerned about the evolution of things. The immediate problems seem to me getting more under controlled than they were 18 months ago. In a deeper sense, whether if the question is whether we are capable or need to be optimistic about how we handle the challenges that are arising, I would be on the pessimistic side. But it is the duty of statesmen to overcome tragedy and not to dwell away with it.
