The way you do relative clauses is very similar to the way they're done in Mandarin. So when you learn one thing and it's similar in another language, it carries over. Even if the words are different or they're used slightly differently, sometimes it's just easier to wrap your mind around it. Things don't make sense in the beginning, but two months later, they just suddenly make sense.
