How to Deal With a Baby Whale
When Lynn Cox was 17, she swam a half mile stretch between the pier and the jetty at Seal Beach near Long Beach in Southern California. She saw a baby whale that had lost his mother; her rescuer told her to stay with it until he could find its mother. Baby whales often get lost because they don't really know how to use their sonar so their mothers keep them close. Some whales are totally dependent on their mothers' milk to survive.
