Joy is the joy that we long for, but we also fear it. The candle of joy is the one thing the ego wants above all else. But the moment the ego touches that joy, it dies. Why? Because joy is the loss of the sense of separation. So the ego cannot have the joy it seeks. It must die into thejoy it seeks. And that takes a lot of courage.
