The Importance of Adapting to Mechanized Warfare
This book is interesting because it's at once highly monotonous, but also the monotony is pure hell. It's hard to approach a book like this because it's just so much going on all at once continuously with no light or dark and then it just ends. They get bunched up in a, in a crater in a hellscape and an artillery shell just wipes out half of his men and he'll talk about how he just breaks down and starts weeping there. And that also at this stage of the war, they're still getting used to mechanized warfare. There are many more attempts at charging trenches and things like that where basically just everyone gets mowed down by machine
