A Brief History of Germany, Anjay

Four and a half thousand inhabitants, it took less than ten minutes to cross. It was very much dominated by its universities so they were around just almost 900 students who studied there. So you have this, the who is who of German thinkers, poets and philosophers kind of assembling there in the last decade of the 18th century. There is relative freedom of thought, there is a lack of censorship, it's very different to the situation in a lot of other states at the time.
