Kim Il Sung Kai - A History of the Kim Dynasty

Kim Jong Un's grandfather, Kim Il Sung, was the leader of North Korea from 1945 to his death in 1994. But he didn't really have much of a career actually fighting the Japanese. He spent most of his time on a Russian military base where he was trained as a captain in the Red Army and remained until the end of the war. His big inspirations were Leo Tolstoy and Mahatma Gandhi,. but Moscow at first felt he was too ambitious and didn't want to risk giving him the gig.
