Glory ann felt the thorns reach for her, to try to tear into her leathery old hands and fill her with their darkness. But she pulled on her gift and felt he hands suddenly grow hot, hot as the coals she lit back at the smoke house. And then gloriaad moved, slipping faster than she ever could in the waking world into the shadow of the tree proper. With three great strides, she came face to face with the vision of cowboy.
