The Church of England - The New Poor Law

There is a hostility towards the workhouses from a christian perspective. An old tenet of the church of england is that one shows charity when one is able to. So with this campaign t they said the deserving poor should receive charitable relief, and that the undeserving should go into a workhouse. The nineteenth century is a century where the virtues of christianity are being very heavily proclaimed.
