David Elliott talks about an anchoring scale and this is a good technique for any of the insecure categories like okay on a scale of one to ten at any given moment you could ask yourself different questions. How much in the present am I versus how lost in the past am I just that like let me identify myself on the scale or even by scaling it it's like okay that's where I am I'm at an eight but I'd really like to drop that a few numbers so I'm gonna like if ten is and I'm focused on other people and we're going through therapy together.
