The Rise of Artificial General Intelligence

There is recently a real doubling down on the idea that these models are approaching something that used to be used somewhat reservably which is artificial general intelligence. The human brain evolved over 500 million years and is not a computer um even though many of my students are told in certain classes that their brains are computers. We have papers coming out with titles like sparks of AGI but they completely ignore the fact that no one has access to the data or the architectures or the tremendous amount of human reinforcement that has been done to make these models work better.
