How to Evaluate the Distance You Are From a Storm

The flashbang rating system is a tool for evaluating how far away lightning is. It takes thunder five seconds to travel a mile from a lightning strike. If you can sense lightning in the sky, it's you're too close to it and you need to do something about it right away. You got to be out of here before storms start building. And my experience at Long's Peak really cemented this because within five minutes, lightning was striking the ground near us from a cloud still distant.
