In the past when sometimes when we have done a book, because our perspective on the show is weird goofy idiot lay people. That's literally our whole thing in life. We are idiot bystanders. And so sometimes we come to an author like a Jane Austen or to the Bronte sisters or to whoever who already have a very firmly established fan base and a huge body of scholarship. I'm worried that we're doing those authors and also their fans disservice. So I don't know if we nailed everything on Plath but like I was trying.
This week we dive into Sylvia Plath's novel The Bell Jar, a quasi-autobiographical novel about womanhood, depression, and identity. We also discuss the unfortunate circumstances of Plath's early death, country mice moving to big cities, and metaphorical chemistry equipment.
