The Origins of Commodity Corporation
Paul Samuelson was an early proponent of the efficient market hypothesis. He also had a side gig called Commodity Corporation, which traded commodities. When it first got started, they'd used various academic theories of supply and demand in order to try to make money. They basically ended up losing money for the first year or so. It wasn't until they brought on traders who were using technical analysis to trade that they started becoming profitable.
