It's hard to pin down what exactly he thinks about this because he's very much taking this as a what is your first person view of yourself? And so you could imagine that all he's saying is that the same shit happens to everybody. Different people just happen to organize it in their head in different ways. Some people need to think of themselves as having a continuous identity, some people don't or never think that they do. I mean, I think that's got to be it. Because everybody obviously has certain patterns of behavior.
