The Adventures of a Young Lover
The town of Cascascia was home to a mix of French Canadians and Native Americans. In the 1740s, the British were making moves to take over the territory controlled by the French. A major flood in 1844 nearly wiped the town off the map; very few people stayed to rebuild. The Mississippi River has always gone for a safer place when it's flooded but now that is no longer true.
