The Anglo Saxon Language of the Middle Ages

Old english experienced its own process of assibilation among the anglo saxons. The k sound became a c h sound before an e or an eye. This is very similar to the sound change we saw before in ita on, which produced words like chinto and chow. And as many of those words came into english, they came in with the french s sound in place of the k sound before the e and the i.
