The Red Bull Exhaust and Hybrid Regulations
Red Bull extended a vertical pipe above the exhaust in order to help with this. The FIA just sort of realized so much money had been spent making these unbelievably complicated exhaust work that it was actually probably cheaper for the teams to let them exist through the 2013 season. Knowing that the hybrid regulations would force them to rethink it entirely and go a different direction.
