Is There a Regime Complex in International Law?

The focus of the inquiry here is not on related treaties, it's rather on divergent treaties applicable to the same subject matter. The authors identify the problem of legal inconsistencies and then go on to say that for regime architects operating in the legal paradigm this is likely to be problematic. This treatment of international laws capacity to manage the interaction between the sources simply fails to take law seriously, whether as to its objectives or as to its mechanisms. These objectives are not simply considerations for regime architects, they affect the real interests of states and their citizens.
