There have been a few nice critiques in the last month or so of the effective altruism movement. It's sort of very lazy high school consequentialist philosophy and expressed in the form of almost a game which says, oh, there will be a million billion trillion gazillion future humans whose rights are just as important as those of current humans. The prioritising of future humans has the obvious effect of being quite misanthropic about present humans who don't get much attention from these people. But it goes also back to what we were saying before in terms of powering text's opinion of itself and its disdain for any kind of oversight or regulation.
